A Finish and a Winner!

Hi friends!  Did you miss us???

Look what Mom finished today!  Yay for Mom!  She started this before either of us were born... WAY BACK at the beginning of the year and just finished it.  It's from a Jeremiah Junction leaflet called Yesterday-Today-Forever.  See over on the left?  She thought she was going to run out of fabric, but she made it. (just!)  She isn't sure what she'll start next.  She'll let you know!!

Now for the fun stuff.  Mom said we could pick where Jingles is going to live, so first we had her print out all the comments...

And then we had her cut them in strips...

Then came the scary part.  Have you heard of "bobbing for apples"?  Well, this was "bobbing for a winner"... and I fell in.

It's a good thing that Jingles was there to pull me out!!  And here is the winner...

Yes!  It's Mary Joan!  I can't believe that Jingles is going over the ocean!!  Mary Joan, be sure to contact Mom with your mailing information.  Jingles can't wait to meet you!!

TTFN!!

Hi everyone!  It's Tricia here!  Thanks for the super response to the giveaway!  Remember, if you'd like a bear, or would like to give one as a gift, be sure to let me know and I'll pass it on to DD.  She's in the process of setting up an Etsy shop, but she isn't quite ready to open, so I'm her go-between right now. : )

Happy Stitching!!! : )

A Finish and a Giveaway!!

Hi everyone!

Before we get to the fun stuff, let me show you my FINISH of Be Joyful Always by Imaginating.  This was SUCH a fun stitch for me.  16 count lite natural aida with DMC.  Thoroughly a joy to work with, especially because I loved the colors in the picture.  Here it is in all its wrinkledness...

Now onto the fun stuff!!!

I have a Labor Day giveaway!!

Meet Jingle, an artist bear by my daughter...

Here's her birth info...

Birthday:  July 30th, 2013
- Smokey Long Pile peach fur fabric
- Ultrasuede footpads
- Black Onyx bead eyes
- Polyester stuffing and steel shot for weight

Jingle has a few more stitches showing than Butternut - from the post below - although the only one I can see is on her behind... so it's not very noticable! : )  Please remember... this is not a toy!  These are artist bears that are about 3" high when seated.  Wonderful little friends, but NOT for little people!!

Jingle with Acorn
If Acorn will let Jingle go, this is what the giveaway will consist of...

But if you don't win, and would like a bear of your own, be sure to contact me.  DD is selling them for only $25.00 plus shipping and they are SO sweet!!

Be sure to leave a comment mentioning that you'd like to be included in the giveaway, and if you post about the giveaway on your blog or Facebook page you get an extra entry!!

I'll draw a winner September 15th and announce it Monday, the 16th.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Acorn's Friend

8/22/13 - I'M ADOPTED!!  Luv, Butternut
 Hi everyone!

It's Acorn here.  I took over Mom's blog for a minute cuz I wanted to introduce you to my new friend, Butternut.  Actually, Mom says that's not really her name, but I thought it was cute!

Isn't she just the sweetest???

She's got a tiny bit of stitching showing at the top of her foot...  I think she must have tripped on something, but Mom says it's a birthmark.

Mom says that she's up for adoption.  I think that means that she's going to go live at someone else's house.  She said to let everyone know that she's available for $25.00 plus shipping.  Do you think if I raise the price a little (like, say, $250.00???) she could live with me forever???  Sigh.  If you adopt her, will you post pictures every once in awhile so I can see her??  Pretty please???

Here's her birth info...

Birthday:  August 20th, 2013
- Smokey Long Pile golden brown fur fabric
- Ultrasuede footpads
- Black Onyx bead eyes
- Polyester stuffing and steel shot for weight
- Silk ribbon

Just remember that she's NOT a toy.  She's a mini artist bear like me.  That's why I'm always in Mom's stitching pictures.  Cuz I'm an artist... see????

Here we are again, together.  You can let Mom know if you'd like to adopt Butternut, just please, please, please take care of her good forever, okay??  Okay.  I feel better now.

TTFN!

Be Joyful Always

Hello, hello!

I can't believe it has been over a month since I last posted!  I've been stitching away on this sweet design by Diane Arthurs (Imaginating).  It's called Be Joyful Always.  Isn't that perfect?!

I only have the leaves that trail down the right side to finish, and my goal is to have them done by the end of the month, because I have another fall project that I'm looking forward to starting around my birthday.  We'll see how much time I have for stitching over the next little while. My dear Mom is staying with us right now.  She had a stroke last year, so she needs a little (or a lot of?) extra attention. :)  In fact, I think I hear her stirring, so I'd better scoot!

Blessings to you all!  If I'm not commenting, please know that it is just because I'm not able to find the spare minutes right now.

Always be thankful!

Another Finish!

Hello friends!  Happy day after the 4th of July!!

I was THRILLED to be able to sit and stitch the other day without my shoulder hurting and I was finally able to finish my LHN Courage Sheep.  Yay!!  Here's the final product...

I wasn't quite ready to start the next one in the series, so I pulled out my Yesterday, Today, Forever piece to stitch on while I watched old movies last night.  Here's Acorn helping again.  I'm not sure he's quite ready for 2 over 1 stitching... hmmm...

In other news... let's see...  I sent out an exchange to DJ... but forgot to take a picture. And I signed up for this giveaway.  (I'd love to stitch a number of these!!)

So -- how are you doing on your stitching goals?  You know -- the ones you set at the beginning of the year!  I looked at my page today and updated it.  Now I need to update my finishes page, too.  I think I'm at 11 for the year, and I'm good with that since I've had a number of weeks I wasn't able to stitch.

My plans this month?

* Finish Yesterday, Today, Forever
* Stitch a "Christmas in July" Christmas ornament

That's it.  I might start something new.  I might work on something old.  I might even go shopping and buy a new pattern!  But those two things are the top of the list.

Talk to you soon!

Tricia

A Wonderful Exchange!

Hello friends!  I've been a busy girl lately and I haven't even taken time to show you the wonderful 4th of July exchange that I received from DJ!!!

Isn't it fun??

She sent me TWO things!  I'm spoiled rotten. :)  A cube and stocking - and I didn't have one of either of those two finishes!! :)

Here they are...

I had to snap a picture quick of Acorn trying to fit in the stocking.
 That's why it's blurry...

BTW, DJ, yours is going to the post office this morning!! :)

So.... would you like to see my little bit of stitching for the month?

Yup, that's it.  My shoulders haven't let me do much... but something is better than nothing, right???  And it is pretty! : )

All right, back to work for me!  Thanks for stopping by and leaving sweet comments.  You make my day ( and Acorn is getting conceited hearing so many nice things about himself!! LOL!! )

Happy Monday!

Tricia

Finally!

I have a finish!  Yippee!! : )  This one seems like a HUGE accomplishment, because I started it last February.  Acorn wanted to hold it...

Eye on the Sparrow
Silver Creek Samplers

I finished the stitching on my exchange piece, too, but I can't show that yet.

In the mornings after I read my Bible I've been stitching on the "Courage" sheep virtues chart.  I caught Acorn trying to put in a stitch when he thought I wasn't watching...

Oops!  She caught me!!  Hi Mom!!
So... my WIP in progress right now is Yesterday, Today, Forever.  I got a good bit done on it yesterday evening.  I'm thrilled to get some of these pieces finished that have been on my list for awhile.  I love starting new projects, but after awhile it really starts to weigh on my conscience if I don't finish them. : )

Thanks for stopping by!!

Sparrows, Exchanges and Acorn

Hello friends!

I've made good progress on my Eye on a Sparrow piece since last we spoke!  Yay!  Isn't it pretty?  My work area is messy right now, though, and I'm having a hard time sitting down to finish it.  I'm going to have to do some reorganizing this week, for sure!

I also started my exchange piece which is supposed to be a secret, but if you won't tell, I'll show it to you...  READY?????

Bwahahahahaha!!! : )

That's it for me today!  Oh, wait!  Did I show you the artist bear that my daughter made me for Mother's Day??  He is SO sweet.  He sits next to my computer and sometimes he even helps me stitch.  He is pretty little, only about 2 1/2" tall when seated, and he's weighted with steel shot so he feels "real" in your hand.  His joints are movable, too, so I can pose him for the camera.  I love him!!  I told her I wanted another one for Christmas!

 Meet Acorn...

"I can see why you need glasses!!"

That's all, folks!  See you next time!

May Goals

Hi everyone!

It seems I need to do an update for April!  Here are my pictures for the month...

I finished LHN Sheep Virtues "Peace".  This one brings to mind Psalm 23...  "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul."  I love the fishies in the water and the garland around his neck!

I worked on Silver Creek Sampler's Eye on the Sparrow for a little while.  Although I must admit with this one I wish I had started on the words "Do Not" instead of on the word "Worry"!!  I'm stitching this one over 1 on 28 count and it's beautiful, but I can only work on it for bits at a time or my shoulder and back and neck bother me.  I've made good progress, though!

Here's the start...

Here's where I am now...

I finished and sent a charity quilt block...

I finished this sweet little PS block...

And started Promise Me...

All right, let's see how I did on my goals for April...

hmmm.

April 4-10: Finish and send charity block - DONE
April 11-14:  Stitch LHN Sheep Virtues "Peace" - DONE
April 15-30:  Finish 1200 stitches on stocking - pg 2, next column - NOTHING DONE
When I need a break from the stocking tiny work...
 Finish PS Bunnies - DONE
Stitch one night on Eye on Sparrow - DONE (plus some!)
Start L*K Promise Me - DONE
Ongoing:  Work on Yesterday, Today, Forever at Mom's - NOTHING DONE

And my goals for May?  Finish Eye on Sparrow and stitch LHN Sheep Virtues Courage.  For some reason I'm in a "finish my WIP's" mood.  So I'll run with it while I can!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
'Til next time...

Two Finishes and a Start

Hello, hello!

It's been a nice week, stitching wise!  I finished the bookmark while watching Pride and Prejudice with my Mom, and I finished my second sheep virtues chart (LHN) this week, too!  I made a couple of changes to the sheep chart.  One was on purpose, the other not so much! : )  I changed the color of the heart on the sheep to the color of the heart above them and then I forgot to make a red heart at the top in the border, so I just added a little red to the center of the flower.  It's personalized! : )  I wasn't ready to start back on my stocking yet - I needed something on a little bigger count to work on that night, so I pulled out the PS pattern that Stephanie had sent me and started on one of the little charts.  Here's a group picture...

So... my goals until the end of the month? (Not that you'll remember them, but it will help me to have them written down!!)  Hmmmm....

Yesterday, Today, Forever will become my "stitch at Mom's" piece.

Kit up charity piece
Start a charity piece - 15 minutes / day
Finish PS piece
Stitch one night on "Eye on the Sparrow"
Finish column on Stocking
Start "Promise Me"

APRIL GOALS:
Stitch LHN Sheep "Peace"
Charity piece - 15 minutes a day
STOCKING - Finish pg 2/3 - do first 2 columns on pg 4
One night - "Eye on the Sparrow"
4 nights on "Promise Me"

Happy Stitching!

March Marches On

Hi everyone!

It's been a coughy, sneezy couple of weeks here, with a sore elbow and shoulder thrown in, so not a whole lot of stitching.  With that disclaimer -- Here's how I'm doing on my March goals... : )

MARCH GOALS...

Finish Charity Block  - DONE
Sorry for the dull picture... I forgot to brighten it before I brought it into Blogger!

Finish page 2 of Little Drummer Boy  - NOT YET

Stitch LHN Sheep Virtues Love  - STARTED

Make one project bag - DONE
I think this one will be part of a giveaway, but I need to stitch something to add to it first! :)

Stitch for 1 night on Yesterday, Today, Forever - DONE
Start Promise Me - NOT YET
Kit up Along for the Ride ornament - DONE

Look at this adorable pile of goodies that came one day while I was sick!  I had won the PS chart from Stephanie at Blue Star Stitcher, and she added all the floss, some springy ribbon and the VERY fun glittery card.  It made me smile in the midst of my Yukky-ness.  I can't WAIT to stitch one of these cuties!!!!!!!

Until next time....Happy Stitching!!! : )

Scattered Stitches

END OF FEBRUARY UPDATE

Greetings, fellow stitchers!

Today is the last day of February.  Time for me to look over my goals for the month and make new ones.  Let's see how I did!

LITTLE DRUMMER BOY... complete page 1 and 2
Not quite!  I have two and a half columns left on page two.

LHN Sheep Virtues... Stitch Second Sheep
Nope!  It hasn't come yet.  : (  Maybe tomorrow!!

L*K Promise Me... Start
Make one project bag
I decided to let DD stitch this one first, and it turned out ADORABLE!  She stitched it on 28 Ct Tea Monaco over 1.  I love it!  I'm going to be stitching it on 16 ct fabric so mine will seem HUGE compared to hers!  I plan to start that this month. : )

I was able to finish another project bag this month, using the same fabric as my last one.  I learned a few more things this time - like how NOT to put the zipper in - and I am still playing with the size of the bag a little.  I have another zipper, so I hope to make another this coming month.

L * K Promise Me on a new Project Bag
Other Progress...

Here's my traveling bookmark.  I never have much time to work on it at Mom's, but it's growing little by little and it's a nice take-along project.  I don't have an "I want this done by..." date on this one, it's just a time filler. : )

I worked a little on my Eye on the Sparrow (Silver Creek Samplers) WIP this month.  Filling in the red around the two R's...

And here's a new start from this week.  I wanted to stitch a block for charity, so I pulled out a square of blue Monaco and this sweet "Baby's First Christmas" pattern from the book "Priscilla's Babyland" by Gloria and Pat.  I've had it on my list to stitch for over 2 years! : )  That blob will be a bunny...

DD the Designer...

DD stitched up this sweet little design that she made up.  Isn't it precious?  If you'd like the pattern, just let me know!

HAPPY MAIL!

Shirlee was so sweet to send me her HE snowman ornament that was wreaking havoc at her house.  : )  I'm looking forward to stitching it... I think!

MARCH GOALS...
  • Finish Charity Block
  • Finish page 2 of Little Drummer Boy
  • Start a Stitcher's Notebook like Linda's for any new starts
  • Stitch LHN Sheep Virtues Love
  • Make one project bag
  • Stitch for 1 night on Eye on the Sparrow
  • Stitch for 1 night on Yesterday, Today, Forever
  • Start Promise Me
  • Kit up Along for the Ride ornament
I shouldn't need to spend anything stitching wise this month - but I do love the little L*K limited edition spring kits (flowers and chicks, especially!) that I'm seeing sneak previews of for market.  I wouldn't probably be able to use the fabric that they come with, cuz I assume it's linen (I'm allergic), but if any of you are going to get them and would like to pass on the patterns when you're done, please keep me in mind!  I'd be happy to pay for them!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a splendiferous day!!

The First Page and Other Stitches

Hello Friends!

LITTLE DRUMMER BOY STOCKING - HAED
I worked ever so hard these past few days to FINALLY finish page one of my stocking.  The little face and headpiece took a long time with all the confetti stitching, and, of course, I figured I could do the last little bit without taking the time to grid it.  HA!!  I won't be trying that too soon again!  (Famous last words???)  I got SO lost without my little grid marks!  Anyway... here's a picture of my {wrinkled} page one.

YESTERDAY-TODAY-FOREVER - Jeremiah Junction
I was going to start Promise Me (Lizzie Kate), but I decided to let my daughter stitch it first, so instead I kitted up Yesterday - Today - Forever, which is the piece my daughter just finished. : )  Here's my progress...

DID YOU SEE?
I saw the picture for the next Sheep Virtues pattern by LHN today.  Can't wait to stitch it!  I was hoping to get page two of Little Drummer Boy done by the end of the month, as well as the sheep chart when it comes.  Guess I'd better get busy!  LOL!!

Happy Stitching!!

Tricia

A New Project

Hi everyone!

END OF JANUARY REPORT
Here's my end of January progress on my stocking and my "take to Mom's" bookmark...

Plus I finished Hope & Shepherd's Watched.

NEW STASH - sort of : )
I had a happy mail day the other day that brought the fixin's for the new Lizzie Kate Promise Me chart. : )  AND, I bought it with a gift certificate so it doesn't count as new stash... or something like that. : )  I hope to start it as soon as I finish page one of the stocking.

NEW PROJECT!
Now for my new project!  I have had a project bag on my list of things to do since last summer, so today I decided to take the plunge and try it.  I used this tutorial on Karen's blog - Thanks Karen! - to get me started and just changed the fabric size to make the bag bigger.  I misfigured a little, though, cuz it won't fit a full magazine or HAED pattern page, so I'll have to make the next one bigger, BUT, it's perfect for all my littler projects like Promise Me, or my LHN charts or ornaments!!  AND... the fun part is that I had all the "ingredients" for the bag in my stash, and all I need to make another one is another zipper and maybe a zipper pull.  My dd has already asked for one for Christmas.  : )

FEBRUARY PLANS
Let's see... for February I would like to...
  • Finish pages 1 and 2 of the stocking
  • Finish the next LHN Sheep Virtues - end of the month
  • Start Promise Me
  • Start Yesterday, Today, Forever
  • Make one more project bag
Happy stitching and thanks for stopping by!

Tricia
